B738 Range

Post by alerogmor » October 19th, 2018, 8:06 pm

Dear Community

We are pleased to share that we just bought our brand new B738 (PR-PCD) and we are managing to bring this beautiful bird to our HQ and start our beta operations.

In the process of managing the transfer routes (KBFI/TNCA/SBCF) we got a "The distance for the new aiports exceeds the aircraft range." message and as far as we now, this is a standard route to transfer aircrafts from Boeing's factory to airliners in Brazil.

Please, can you guys kindly help us fix this situation?

Best regards

Hello Alessandro,

According to Wikipedia, the current range of the the B738 is 2,935nm. Boeing 737 Characteristics

When I enter the starting (KBFI) and ending (TNCA) airports into Skyvector, I show a total distance of 3,347nm.

Perhaps you can add a 4th jump?
Regards,

Hi Sven!

The date from Wikipedia can not be applied in this case.

The range of 737-800 set at 2,935nm is at MTOW or 79,015kgs, which is totally unrealistic for a ferry flight.

On this link (http://www.boeing.com/assets/pdf/commer ... ps/737.pdf) on page 96 there is a graph about the 737-800 range and how it is affected by the payload. And this is considering the airplane without the winglets, which will increase even further the range in this scenario.

The airline that I fly the 737-800 (as a professional) have an average OEW of 41,500kgs.

So, considering the graph plus the OEW we can extend the airplane range to something around 3,700nm with the standard 737-800 fuel tank capacity.

There is any chance to create a special condition for ferry flights?

Hello Raphael! ;)

Good to see you made it here.

Unfortunately, there is no way to "make an exception" for the Ferry Flights. Could you send me a Private Message, with the details of the aircraft and the flight?
Regards,

Sven2157

Hi Sven!

Unfortunately I can't send any PM so far (not enough posts in the forum).

Anyway, which kind of details you need?

The proposed route is KBFI-TNCA-SBCF, and the airplane tail number is PR-PCD, there will be another two airplanes (PR-PCE and PR-PCF) that will be added to the fleet til the end of this year.
