PIREPs now completely not shown

Post by SVAG1078 » August 31st, 2017, 4:01 am

Years ago the map broke. Fine.
Then recently a big yellow "browser incompatible" error started appearing in everyone's PIREPs. Fine.
Today, everything in the PIREP broke.

One of my pilots sent me this:

Can someone tell me what's going on please? This is getting from bad to worse and is making our VA look entirely unprofessional, to say nothing of the fact that VAFS6 was promised "coming soon" as far back as 20 Jan 2013.

Isaac,

The Client is using a version of IE that is WAY out of date. This does not affect your flights, nor anything else about your VA: just the client, in flight, map.

So I suggest, if you need the map during your flight, just bring up the browser version:

All Airlines:

Code: Select all

http://plugins.vafinancials.com/maps/flightmap.php
Your Airline Specifically:

Code: Select all

http://plugins.vafinancials.com/maps/flightmap.php?id=NNNN
Where you replcae NNNN with your VA ID.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Regards,

Sven2157

Hi,

I'm not an admin nor manager of our VA, but as far as I can tell, there is only 2 of us that are having this problem. It is not the map that i am concerned about, it is the fact that when we try an add comments post flight for our managers to see, I can not report it if I can't see it. Opening up the flight report after makes it difficult to report problems then having to send PM's or posting in our VAFS gripe page.

regards,

Sorry Paul,

First fix, you Credentials ... VA ID, VA (FULL) NAME, & PILOT CALLSIGN, in EVERY post ...

Are you saying that you can't properly add comments to the end of the PIREP? And that it is a hassle to do follow up with your superiors in your VA?

If so, Can you provide me with specifics, maybe some screen shots or video? Not a lot, just an example, so I can see? Thanks, and sorry for your trouble ...
Regards,

Sven2157

Sven, allow me to reiterate the point of my original post. I was not reporting the failure of the map - this feature broke donkey years ago and I doubt anyone is expecting it to be fixed if ever.

I was reporting the failure of the entire PIREP. The above screenshot was NOT censored - the PIREP details are really completely blanked out in every single field. Please do not try to rationalize this away because a complete PIREP failure is unacceptable especially since this is a payware platform.

"Butbutbut spending time on V5 means I can't work on V6!"

An understandable position and perfectly acceptable...if V6 was available to use right now and not over 4 years delayed. Otherwise such a decision is as good as completely abandoning the product (would Mike have a thing or two to say about this?) since your customers have no alternative workaround. I'd even be willing to roll back to V4 because while primitive, that version actually offered more in-depth PIREPs.

The point is, there are certain things in V5 you have to prioritize over V6 because unless V6 is dropping next week, nobody is holding their breath and all we want right now is a basic functioning service that we've paid for.

You pay for a subscription! PERIOD! The subscription still works ... and acting like this, will not get any newer version, any faster!

Your screen shots, mean nothing, because in the end the flight was recorded. If it was not, then please let me know

I am sorry! But I have said it before, and I will say it again!

If you are unhappy, then go! ... We don't want you to, but we would prefer that you are happy. When, we finish our next iteration, we hope you come back.

However, we, nor, anyone else, will be "Brow Beat", or "screamed at" to get anything done!

WE WILL GET IT DONE, WHEN WE GET IT DONE!

I unlocked the post ...
I am frustrated too!

Guys we're frustrated too.
And of late Mike in now waiting on me ...

I want - and NEED - the database to be expandable..., and I am taking my time with it, since the last 5 times didn't it expand good enough.

I want to be able to make "VAFS 7" quickly, and properly! But like I have been saying this whole time, WE NEED TO START OVER ...

Sorry guys & girls ... Happy Landings to all! But I want this PROPER, from the start ...

Before I get screamed about not including my credentials, here they are:
Benjamin Chan (VIR001) (26474)

I have to give credits to VAFS for its advertised features, but since V5 was rolled out, many things have fallen out of order and it either takes very long to be fixed, or we don't get any answer or hope of it being fixed (like the map feature mentioned in the previous post).

To be honest, we are staying with VAFS bearing the hope that V6 will roll out within my lifetime, but at this moment it does not seem likely. But as fee-paying customers we really need to see that V6 is a PLAUSIBLE update and not a dream that we are hoping for (which will not be fulfilled) even though we are paying every single month waiting patiently.

VAFS6, at this moment, seems even less likely to happen than QualityWings 787. Haha.
