G'day, the last 2 flights posted by our VA have incurred an excessive transportation fees penalty for landing too far from the airport. The amounts total nearly $3mil in penalties which as a small VA find it hard to absorb. The investigation reports that that no deviations were made and the flights appeared normal.

Final Flight Status 1.08 You arrived 306.99 miles away from your designated arrival airport. Additional transport fees were added to your flight.

Final Flight Status 0.89 You arrived 8912.02 miles away from your designated arrival airport. Additional transport fees were added to your flight.

Hi Sven, turns out that one pilot had inputted the wrong flightplan and has admitted his error. The flight from Ymml to YMLT is still a mystery as one pilot retrieved an A/C from the UK, but another pilot was hit with the transportation fees.

Paul

Hey Paul,

Do you have the option for "AIRCRAFT AND ROUTES ARE LOCKED WHILE IN FLIGHT" enabled (turned on). I am thinking someone else may have used the aircraft at the same time, and when they spawned into their airport, it falsely registered a landing? :?

I am still looking into this ...

*** EDIT ***
Actually, I think I found the problem. If you look at the Flight Log, you will notice that it clearly says a flight from YMML to YMLT is 9004 Miles/14491 Km.

I don't think that it is 9000 Miles to Tasmania from Australia, do you? Especially from Melbourne, as that is your southern most, big city, right?

I suspect that the coordinates (Lat/Lon) for YMLT are not correct in the database, thus the high mileage between the two airfields. I will check this and refund your penalty fees, sometime today, central time. ;)

Hmmm .... :?

The coordinates for both airports are correct. That route (QF 2285) has been flown 34 times before. All previous flights indicate a distance of 295nm. That same aircraft (dh8-400 Flybe) has been used before as well, by the same pilot.

However the fleet id for the aircraft is not the same. The first time he flew the flight he had fleet id 17638, while the second flight (the 9004 miles one) he used fleet id 17185.

17638 is tail VH-QOJ out of YPAD
17185 is tail VH-QOE out of YBBN

Both D8Q400 ...

I might have to get Mike in on this, as I can't see why all of a sudden it would change. Maybe he knows some underlying script or working that can shed light on what went wrong.

Any how, I reversed the penalty and refunded your money.

... Oooh!

Could you have that guy try the same flight again, to see if it happens again? It might be an undiscovered bug ... :?
