Post by raa57 » February 24th, 2017, 10:58 pm

Hi

I have installed vafs as administrator and have it set in properties to always run as administrator.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box

I have tried repairing my net framework 4.5 installation,
Reinstalled fsuipc to the latest version (4.963)
Tried rolling back windows to before my last flight using system restore.
but all to no avail :cry:
Also checked to see if any windows updates had maybe upset something somewhere but as i have turned off automatic updates my last windows update was in october last year and vafs has been working fine for me up until about 2 days ago.

Any help would be must appreiciated

Regards Terry

This is definitely a Windows or .NET Framework issue. Please try running the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool. They trying again.

Hi Sven,

Thanks for your reply,I have tried downloading and running the repair tool you gave me the link to but still getting same error.

I then uninstalled net framework 4.5 that was the only version listed in my add remove program section and then downloaded and reinstalled version 4.5 but again i am still getting the same error.

Running out ideas here and really dont want to go down the road of reinstalling windows again.

Regards Terry

Terry, try doing this. Download and install the .NET Framework 3.5, as that was what VAFS was originally built on. Then try again, and report back. I have one more thing we can try, fail this.

Hi Sven.

I have uninstalled net framework 4.5 and downloaded 3.5 but when trying to install it i get a msg saying i have to activate net framework 3.5 in programs and features(i am running w7) and apparently 3.5 is already installed and just needs activated.

Only problem i have with that is when i goto the turn on/off windows features section the dialog box just comes up saying "please wait" then a few seconds later just goes blank leaving me unable to activate net framework3.5,
I have googled this problem and a lot of suggested ideas include scanning the registry then going into my CBS.log file and then deleting the files listed in the log that are corrupt and then i should be able to activate 3.5 but unfortunately after a few hours doing this i am still unable to activate netframe work3.5 and my windows features box is still blank.

What was the one other suggestion you have had?

As a workaround to get flying i have installed vafs5 on a borrowed laptop and that is working fine over the network..

Regards Terry

I know that this is not for the same game/simulator, but this is for Windows. I also want you to Google and install/repair VC++ 2012, as this post was before this was around. Follow the instructions in this to the letter, and you should be good.

Hi Sven,

Thanks again for your help.
Followed the insrtuctions on that post to the letter,restarted my PC,updated my graphics driver,restarted Pc again but am still getting the same error..

Am at a loss as to whats gone wrong and am really not looking forward to having to reinstall windows and everything else after that to get flying again.

Maybe some others on here might have some more ideas

Am working away for most of this week so wont get a chance to try anything else until the weekend anyway

Terry,

I am sorry. This is a Windows issue, for sure! As I can't access the computer myself, you are left with a re-install of Windows. Unless you can think of anything else ... :?:
